About Us
Mission Statement
The mission of the Marine Corps League is to promote the interest and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families; serve Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and FMF Chaplains who wear or who have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism.

About Our Organization
The Olde English Leathernecks is a proud detachment of the Marine Corps League, dedicated to honoring the traditions and values of the United States Marine Corps while continuing to serve our local community. Based in Rock Hill, our members are veterans, active-duty Marines, and supporters who share a commitment to camaraderie, service, and patriotism.
We meet monthly to strengthen fellowship, plan community initiatives, and support fellow Marines and their families. Through volunteer efforts, outreach programs, and local events, the Olde English Leathernecks actively serve the Rock Hill community, striving to make a meaningful impact while upholding the honor and legacy of the Corps.
Whether you’re a Marine, a veteran, or a supporter looking to give back, we welcome those who share our mission of service and dedication.
History
The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 by World War 1, Veteran of Belleau Wood, Commandant of the Marine Corps, then Major General John A. Lejeune.
On August 4, 1937, the U.S. Congress Congressionally Chartered the organization as a Veteran Service Organization. It maintains a 501c4 non-profit status with the Internal Revenue Service with special tax exemption.
The Olde English Leathernecks Detachment #1123 was established in 2003 as a local chapter of the Marine Corps League. Made up of former and active members of the United States Marine Corps, the detachment was created to keep Marines connected after their service while continuing to give back to their community.
The name “Olde English” comes from York County’s historic “Olde English District,” tying the group directly to the area they serve. Whether it’s showing up on Memorial Day or hosting events like remembrance runs, the goal has stayed the same—never forget, and keep showing up for each other and the community.
